Flea Control & skin rash

Question
My dog got fleas pretty severly. We have used several different flea control products. Now she has a red rash on her skin and she scratches constantly. Also, she always smells like a wet dog. Any idea what might be happening and what we can do to help her?

Answer
Hi David :-)

Have you tried Frontline Spot On treatment? It is very good and kills all Fleas and Ticks for one month then you re-apply some more. Or alternatively it may be a good idea to see your Vet about some Flea Treatment products and Pet Store bought stuff and some over the counter stuff never works but causes irritation instead.

It sounds like the red rash on her skin is due to irritation caused by the Fleas or possibly even Eczema or a Allergy of some kind. You will need to see the Vet about this also as they can provide you with a wah to help relive her skin and itching and it should clear this up.

Unfortunately the only thing you can do for a wet dog is regular weekly bathing or even two-three times a week bathing with Dog shampoo that is very thick and creamy. Smell the Shampoo before you purchase it and if it has a strong flowery or minty smell then buy this and it should help with the wet dog smell.

Take care and all the best and please rate/comment me.
