New dog doesnt like my son

We recently got a one year old female fixed papillon/ terrier/spaniel dog for our family (and especially for my 10 year son). The dog lets everyone in the family give her kisses and love on her except for my 10 year son. She grumbles and wants away from him. She doesn't mind being with him as long as he doesn't touch her which breaks his heart. What can we do?

It sounds like she had problems with somebody similar to him in the past.  One quick way to change her perception of him would be to have him feed her.  Will she let him take her for walks?  He could also be free with treats.  Will she chase a ball for him?  Let him give her as much attention as she will accept.  He shouldn't push her past her comfort level.  I think she will come around soon.
