old female Shih Tzu

Question
Please help!  I have a very old female Shih Tzu who smells extremely bad, in spite of bathing her, feeding her high quality dog food, etc.  Do you have any suggestions about why she may smell so bad?  Is there anything we can do to make it better?

Answer
If you haven't done so in the last year, take her to the vet for a good teeth cleaning and check up. Teeth can REALLY make a dog stinky as can dirty ears. Have them give her ears a great cleaning while she's there and do her anal glands. That should take care of your problem. Also look at your dog food, it is often the culprit in many more problems than people realize
Good luck
