Answer
Hi Renae,

Thank you for writing to me about your senior dog.

Your dog must not be feeling very well after her ordeal at the vet's while having fluid removed from her lungs.  It may have been very traumatic for her.  She may be suffering from depression, or may be in pain.

The best way I know for getting a dog to eat is to add peccorino romano grated cheese to the food.  See if she will eat a hamburger or beef.  Mix the grated cheese in with it.  As a last resort hand feed her.

Try making a beef broth with small pieces of beef in it.

Make sure your dog is drinking water or dehydration will set in.

Best Regards,
Shelley Davis
