Question
Are miniature poodles good with children?

Answer
While certain individuals probably are, it wouldn't be the first breed I would think of if someone said to name a breed for children. Poodles are such an overly-bred breed by people who aren't actually "breeders", and most don't give adequate thought to temperament, health issues, structure, etc. This can be a very high-strung breed, and there isn't much to them but hair and bone, substance-wise, meaning that they are a bit delicate for very young children.

Beyond that, be honest with yourself about your own children. Are they well-behaved, gentle, and good with pets? Some children shouldn't have puppies, kittens, etc. until they are a bit older and are able to *listen* and behave suitably with baby animals. If they are, then look for a puppy (in whatever breed) that has been socialized with children, or get something that is a little bit older.

With children in the house, always make sure that the puppy/dog that is brought in is more on the submissive side to avoid possible dominance issues as it grows.
