Pregnant Dane

QUESTION: Hi, I hope you can help.  I recently rescued a female dane from a backyard breeder and it appears that she might be pregnant.  I took her to a vet who seemed as helpful as well, not helpful.  He said maybe-could be-possibly, xrays might not show.  She is beginning to have larger breasts and her appetite has tripled (considering when she first got here i had to trick her to eat).  What can you recommend i do, what foods are best for pregnant danes, any other important information.  Last time I owned a dog, she roamed in from the street and after we got attached we ffound her owners.  Ive called breeders for their advise and they took arent interested in helping because they think i am trying to compete....go figure.  Any advice would be very helpful.  thx

My advice is keep feeeding her what she wants to eat(amounts she wants to eat) of a high quality large breed dog kibble when you find out for sure if she is(in a few weeks she will gain alot of weight and get a noticeable belly bump) then you can also add large breed Puppy kibble to her diet as its high protine and fat are good for pregnant and nursing dogs.

QUESTION: Is there a specific brand that you recommend?  She came with purina which she hated, then i tried samples at the pets store she ate the kibbles and bits, which i have recently been told isnt so hot for dogs.  But now she is turning that away and trying to eat anything we have in the house.  My one year old son feeds her before he eats, not the doggie no-no foods.  Thank you in advance.

Hello purina dog chow and kibbles and bits are really cheap foods and deffintly not reccomended for a purebred possibly pregnant GreatDane. please see my website for kibble reccomendations:
