Schnauzer growling/talking

I am wondering if there is anything I can do about our nuetered four year old Schnauzer who growls/talks at children or visitors.  He comes up to them and growls as he gets pets. It sounds agressive, but his body language is anything but. What do you think??

Some schnauzers are very talkative. If you think that is all that he is doing, then just ignore him. If it could be more, then he should be corrected.

Does he growl when he is moved from where he is lying or when anything is taken away from him? Dominant dogs (or those that *think* they are in their own minds) might do this.

Get him into obedience classes and everyone should start practicing "Nothing in Life is Free" with him. http://k9deb.com/nilif.htm  Have people make him SIT, give him a treat (for sitting), and THEN they should pet him.
