Question
I have a 3 month old pit bull and i have been trying to pad train him but he won't use them. He only uses them when he is in my room but when we let him out he starts to pee and poop everywhere, I've caught him in action and I take him to the pads but he won't even pay attention to them, he just stares at me. How can i train him to use the pads?

Answer
Luis,
your pup has learned that the bedroom is his den (puppies and dogs keep there dens clean)  when he goes outside the "den" he thinks it is ok for him to poop and pee there.  You have to teach him (one  room at a time) that the other rooms are his den too.  I would get an expen and extend the size of the bedroom slowly.  By putting this pen outside the door so he can move out of the door but still feel like he is in the bedroom.  Put the pads down in that extended area and watch him closely.  I would use a pad that he has soiled a little.  If he starts to go, get him on that pad immediately and praise him.  Make sure if he does miss you use Urine be gone on it.  It is fabulous.

anyway  here is what an expen looks like.

the metal ones are the best and get a cheap one as eventually you probably wont need it.  Or if you travel, get one that is good for his adult size.  I still use mine at times.

as you can see these could easily be attached to the door with hooks and extend the area.  eventually move it out more and more until you are using the whole thing.
after that let him out ONLY into the next room (to the bedroom) and watch him carefully.  This has to be done in each room until he learns that the whole house is his den.
