Heat cycle

I am a first time owner and have a Westie Shu. I was wondering how long does the heat cycle last, along with the bleeding?  Does having her spade eliminate the bleeding?

Hi - If you have her spayed then she will not bleed.  Is that what you were asking?
Spay her by 8 months of age or sooner to avoid the heat cycle.
