Sudden foul odor from Lab

Question
I recently noticed an incredibly foul odor seeping from my lab.  I gave her a bath and not less than two hours later, she smelled horrible.  She brings the stench into every room she enters and it doesn't go away for days (even with fans and open windows!).  I am taking her to the vet, but wanted to see if this was normal, and if you had any advice as to what I can do to eliminate this foul odor.  Everything that touches her coat ends up smelling as awful as she does.  Could this be an overactive anal gland?  Are we destined to live with a very smelly dog?  Please advise!  Thank you.

Answer
Could be an ear infection.  Smell the ear.  Some antibotics from the vet will clear it up right away.  Trouble is, the next bath could cause another one.  Frequent brushing should be all a Lab needs.  Keeps the hair in the house down too.  My Aster hasn't had a bath in a year and a half.

Anal glands usually are more of a problem for the dog.  They can be removed.

Labs are the most common service dog.  I never heard of one having to be removed from service because of uncontrolable odor.  Dogs don't have to smell.
