Question
I am training my female 7 month old Lab with treats.  Since she has been getting treats she has become more vocal.  She is crate trained and after I have her in there she becomes vocal now like she was spoiled with treats.  Is this ok to let her bark?  Is this normal?  And also.....she really jumps up whenever I get her out of the cage and I know it is excitement, but how can I train her to be calm coming out of the cage?

Answer
Some dogs are more vocal than others.  You can eventually remove the treats from training, especially on commands she knows.  You may want to try only rewarding when she obeys AND is quiet, to reinforce the better behavior.

You may want to try giving her a chance to calm down IN the crate before opening. We have it happen too.  You get home, the dog is excited you are home, you immediately open the crate, and BAM they are jumping and overly excited.  You may want to try leaving her in there until she seems calm and then ask her to sit for a treat as soon as she gets out.  You should be able to reinforce that good dogs come out of crates and sit for treats.
