Will getting another dog help our lab?

Question
Hi
We have a 9 month old lab. He has all the typical lab bad behaviors (chewing EVERTHNG, jumping, barking ect)that we are trying to correct. We are both gone working all day. Do you think if he had a playmate it would help?

Answer
Yes, it is so much easier to shred things if you have somebody's teeth in the other end.  Running and jumping are more fun with somebody to chase with. Barking is more effective with a helper.

I am a big fan of crating a dog when you aren't around.  However it makes a long day if nobody can make it back at lunch to give it a break.  Lately I have been suggesting doggy day care if possible.  That would give your dog supervised companionship and never a problem with trashing your house.

If you don't think doggy daycare would work, post back.
