14 year old lab with explosive diarehea

Question
My 14 year old lab recently started have episodes of explosive diarehea.  He seems healthy for an old dog with the expected declines in hearing and eyesight.  He also has hip dysplysia.  He occasionally has poop accidents in the house which is unusual because he doesn't even know it has happened.  For the past three days he has had diarehea that just squirts out.  He seems to not notice this is happening. He doesn't seem to be in pain and there doesn't appear to be blood in the mess, but it is distressing to him and to us.  He is not eating or drinking much.  HE hasn't eaten anything but his dog food and dog bones.  So we are at a loss as to what is going on except to think it might be the beginning of the big decline.  Any advice besides taking him to the vet.  Is this a common symptom for an old dog that may be ready to go to doggie heaven. Or is there a minor cause to this problem.  If it doesn't clear up by tomorrow I think a vet trip is in order.

Answer
There is a huge variation in what happens with aging dogs.  My 13 year old female was having urinary problems.  A simple capsule a week of replacement hormones fixed that plus helps with her arthritis.  It may or may not be something with a reasonable fix.  he could even be having problems with one of his bones blocking something.  Try to get him to the vet before the weekend.
