Question
What are your thoughts on a pediatric neuter

Answer
In recent years there has been some question about it.  I still feel the average pet owner is better off having their dog done by 6 months.  The studies showing otherwise are not the solid, controlled ones I like to base decisions on.  Nor are the problems claimed that large.  Neuter early and the dog may be slightly taller.  Wait and it is more likely to develop problem behaviors and have misadventures.  Young adults can be caught by surprise, let along the elderly or children when a intact male tries to bolt out the door because a female a mile up wind is in season.  He may also sail over the fence that has held him in the past.  Once loose, the dog faces all sorts of dangers not included in the studies.  So I say have it done by 6 months.
