Question
Hi there,

I am not sure how much experience you have in this field, but what should i do about a dog that has injured paw. My dog was recently out swimming on the beach, but there was a lot of shells there. The shells seemed to cut him and his paws are red at places. He licks them alot also. My question is this. My dog is acting fine, and is happy and also plays and runs fine. The wound is also getting better. He still runs around etc. So i need to do anything to prevent  this from getting worse or is this one of those things that get patched up by themselves. I hope you can help.

Answer
Hello Ri and thank you for your question,

My friends lab/golden ret X got an ijured pad somehow last month, I told him to put polisporn or other antibotic onitment on it and get the dog Not to lick it this is done by staying with the dog as much as you can and giving rawhides/kongs or other intreating toys to keep there mmind busy to pervent licking the ointment off, if the pas seems really red and the dog is having any difaculty putting pressuar on it i reccomend a vet visit but since you saidhe is running well just try some ointment and be sure to clena the pad off with water first.
