Question
Hi there, I have a 14 month old golden lab.  I was just wondering what weight he should be at for his age?  His Dad was a large show dog, so Bailey will be a big dog too.  At the moment he weights 40kg.  (Sorry that is metric as I am in New Zealand.)  Thank you!

Answer
Hello, There are so many varibles going into the dogs weight...some lab lines are larger then others it also depends on if he is of perfect weight neither too thick nor too thin. I am really bad will kgs I use pounds for my dogs and my own weight... A adult male labrador retereiver can stand 23-24 inches at the shoulder blade and weight anywhere from 70-100 pounds depending on the lines the dog was from I've seen very tiny males before and my friend had a 100 male lab when he was younger whose chin would rest on the kitchen table while he ate!. My 3 year old spayed female Labrador is 22 at the shoulder blade and weight 75 healthy pounds(not over or under weight)...she stopped bulking out at 2 years old at 1 year she was almost full grown in height but was much less muscler then she is now.
