One large crate for two labs?

Question
I have two 9-week old lab mixes (brother and sister) who currently reside in one crate which should be good for another month or so. When I upgrade should I get one crate that they can share for the next year or so into adulthood or get two large crates - one for each lab.  They will be sleeping in my bedroom room and 2 large crates will be tight.  They are constantly together and sleep next to each other or overlapping legs.

Thank you for your service on this website.  Regards, Bill

Answer
Sharing crates defeats part of utility of the crate, reducing activity allowing the body to slow and extend the time the dog can go without relief.  Put 2 young Labs in the same crate, and you will have plenty of activity.  Puppies do enjoy cuddling with another dog for a nap.

Perhaps consider other solutions.  I have my doubts about stacking crates. but know a lady with them 3 high in her living room. I am afraid the top one might fall off.  You can also use one as an end table.  Our daughter has 2 large crates in her living room.  The one is in a corner between the end of the sofa and wall.  It is covered and serves as an end table.  All you can see of it is the end with the door.  The other one is more visible but also serving as a table.
