Lab in heat/spaying/behavior

Question
I have a 2-1/2 year old black lab who is in heat now. I want to get her spayed and am wondering how long after she stops bleeding should I wait to have the surgery? Will I notice any behavior changes after she is spayed?
Thanks for your help!

Answer
It's best to wait a couple of months for everything in your girl's body to go back to normal before spaying.  You shouldn't notice any behavioral changes, but the change in hormones can sometimes cause a weight gain...so just make sure you maintain the normal exercise schedule, and she'll be just fine.
