found a wart

I have a 10 month old black lab, and I recently found a small wart-like growth on the bottom of her chin.  I have looked elsewhere, including in her mouth, and have found no others.  All of the information I have read online about warts states that it is not a matter for concern, and if the growth is still present after 6 months then perhaps the vet will do something.  Have you any expereince with finding a wart, or any knowledge as to what we should do?  I am also wondering, as we have playtime every day with puppy/dog friends at a dog park if they are contagious?  I appreciate your advice,

I am afraid your vet may have better answers than I do.  She should be in for her 12 month shots before long.  I would have the vet look at it then.  Did your online search include http://www.avma.org/communications/brochures/animal_health.asp  I am not sure it is detailed enough but very reliable.  Many of the dog web sites are very poor.  You really need look at the qualifications of the sponsor.
