correction for humping?

Question
Hi,
I was wondering what kind of correction to use for my 5 mo. old male lab's humping.  We have a few soft beds for him, which he loves to sleep on, but when he first sees them, bites and humps vigorously. At night he sleeps in a crate in our bedroom, with the soft mat in the crate, which he doesn't hump, just sleeps on. But if one of the mats is on the floor, he 'goes for it'.  Also, what age do you recommend for neutering?
Thanks!
Bonnie

Answer
You should be able to say NO and redirect the pup's attention off the bed.  Our boy used to hump his bed, but nothing else.  We let him do it a bit before we got his attention on something else.

Nuetering is safe to do any time after 6 months.  Though many breeders recommend that you wait until the dog is at least 12-18 months to allow it to fully mature into an adult dog which is good for joints and musculature.
