Answer
Hello, Wow I have never heard of a 16 year old purebred lab until now...only 12 and 13 year olds.

For your senior dog youwant to amke sure he has soft warm bedding that is kept away from drafts..you might even consider a heated dog bed.

Feed him a senior dog kibble or a senior large breed kibble...keep it easy on any extras...a few biscuts every now and then wont hurt as long as they aren't very high in fat.

If he still has all his teeth you can offer "chewd up" style rawhides they are easier to chew and easier to digest.

Keep exercise regular but nothing strenuis...no runs or jogs...slow paced walks would be best if he doesn't have hip problems.

Keep him updted with vet checks and vaccines

And most importantly make him a part of whatever you can...he will love to be around you and it is a great way to spend time with your old buddy in his last years.
