7 Month old Lab - how much to feed?

Question
Hi there. I have a 7 month old chocolate lab. He is big boned (his paws are the size of my hand) and weighs 77 lbs. Currently he is a good size, not fat, and not too thin. He seems to be starving all the time! We feed him 2 cups twice a day... should we be increasing this at all?? What is the proper amount of food for a larger lab?

Answer
That is very typical of a Lab.  How much varies, I have fed smaller Labs anywhere from 3 to 6 cups.  I can' say, but it is fairly east to determine just what you should be feeding.  You should be feeding an adult chow now. Switching to an adult chow for the
larger breeds at 4 months, slows growth and helps develop sturdier joints.

Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest. You
should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them. Each dog is different.
Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog must have its
food and exercise adjusted to its individual needs. Here is a link to a good
