chocolate lab peeing in house at night

Question
Hello, I have a chocolate lab that is about 2 years old.  We have had her for about a year, and recently she started urinating in the house on the couch, rug or her bed in the evening.  It seems that there might be a trigger.  It has been happening when my husband says it is time to go to bed and tries to get her to go outside.  It's as if she doesn't want to and then gets nervous and pees.  Then, she knows she isn't supposed to do this and gets even more upset, so it is a vicious cycle.  We thought maybe she was having problems due to begin spayed and the vet put her on Proin.  She has been on it for two days, and it just happened again tonight.  Help!  I'm not sure if she just has anxiety around my husband, if she is pouting because she doesn't want to go to bed in her crate, or if she has a bladder problem.

Answer
Best to talk this over with the vet.  I would have him check to make sure she doesn't have a urinary tract infection though.  You may also want to stop giving water after her dinner so that she is empty.  See if you can get her to go outside and pee earlier than right before bed.

I have an old girl and she didn't like going in the back yard with the young dogs that harrass her.  I started allowing her to go in the front yard by herself and that helps too.

What happens if YOU try to get her to go out and potty?
