we adopte a 4 year old lab retreiver he gets along with children i have 3 grandkids he seems to nip at one of them when we first brought the dog home he was fine with everyone then one day he gave my grandson a nip on his arm the other 2 grandkids he has never done anthing to them some days he is fine with him and then the other day he nipped at him again this grandson has never did anything to provoke him to nip at him what can we do i really love this dog and dont want to have to bring back to the shelter is there anything we can do or do u think this is going to be a real problem that the dog will really hurt my grandson

1) Make sure this dog is 100% supervised with the child.  You need to be absolutely CERTAIN the child is not provoking the dog in any way.  It seems weird that the dog would nip only 1 child.

2) As this dog is new to you, you need to go through training with the dog so that it knows that you run the house.  Even if it seems well behaved, dogs need to be constantly reminded about rules.

3) See if the trainer can observe the child with the dog to see if there is anything you might not be seeing.  It's possible that the dog had a bad experience with little boys and is fine with little girls.
