Question
Hi,
I have this lab who is 15 months and every time he gets upset he tends bite someone in the family.
The vet had advised us to neuter him, which we did last month.
however this doesn't seem to have solved the problem.
How do i get him to stop bitting the family?

Answer
It is quite possible as the existing hormones wear off, you will see more effect.  Neutering was a good step, but by itself often fails to solve the problem.  You need to add training.  If you have obedience training classes available, I would suggest taking him.  Otherwise work out of a book.  The key to most behavior problems is approaching things using the dog's natural instincts. Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog. Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones. You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat.
