4 month old lab teething

Question
Labman-
My female yellow lab will be 4 months old in a couple of days. She
has started losing her puppy teeth. In the past couple of days, she
has moments of jumping up on us, biting us, running around in
circles around us, or our furniture. Is this due to her teething? I
know that she need to be spayed, but is this normal behavior?

Answer
Usually teething doesn't bring much in the way of behavior changes except more biting and chewing.  Each dog is different, so I wouldn't worry about it.  One thing you can do at that stage is to knot and wet a piece of cloth.  Then freeze it.  The cooling will soothe the gums.  Only let the puppy have it when you are there to watch it.

You might talk to the vet about spaying her.  Usually they wait until 6 months, but the trend is toward earlier and earlier.  On details like when, usually I just go along with what the vet wants.
