Choc. itching constantly

Question
i have a 10 month old Chocolate that itches very often.  Not one specific spot more all over.  Anything I can try before going to the vet?  She is on a good dry food.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Answer
One big cause of itching is too frequent baths and failing to rinse out the last bit of shampoo.  Frequent brushing with a soft bristled brush will limit baths to only after rolling is the stuff they will every chance they get.

Contrary to much of what you read, chances are, whatever you are calling a good chow provides her everything she needs to keep her coat in good shape.  There are a few dogs that need more fat than in some dog foods.  You can easily fix that with a tablespoon of ordinary liquid cooking oil.  Most of them are corn or other oils rich in the linoleic acid dogs need for their coats.  Just don't fatten her up, see http://www.puppychow.com/products/popup_body_condition.aspx
