Question
I have an 10month old black lab. She is in clean health. My question is for the last few days I have notice that my lab has been losing hair around the bottom and down the back of the legs. Today I noticed that he had a few small spots on his back. I have check him for fleas and did not see any. It has been really hot on several of the days. I am not sure if this is an allergy to something. He does scratch and bite at the back area however not on his bottom or legs. There is a little red irration on his legs.  Wondering could you maybe suggest what this maybe or let me know what i should do.

Answer
Feed a decent chow and as little else as possible, seldom if ever bathe the dog, and brush it daily with a soft bristled brush. You might add a teaspoon a day of liquid cooking oil to its food.

A better check for fleas is to pull the hair back in fornt of the tail'  if you can see or feel gritty, reddish specks, your dog has fleas even if you haven't seen them.  The vets have the best flea remedies.

If after a month, you are still seeing the problem, see the vet.
