Nuetered

D-Lee,
We are having our 6 month old Lab Nuetered today!  Actually in about 5 hours.  Is there anything that we should do to make him more comfortable when he returns home.  
Additionally, I have read on this site that there are occationally house breaking issues upon return.  While we are still using a crate, we leaving him gated in our kitchen with the crate door open.  I am not sure if we should go back to crate training him until we are certain that he is not having any issues or if we should just wait and see.

Hello, i've had one male dog neutered and two femlae dogs spayed without potty issues apon return but since they needed to go up a flight of stairs to go outside i carried the smaller ones out when they had to go being careful not to touch there insin areas but for my large dog I had to let her walk up but was sure to stand behind her incase she lost balance. Also yuo will notice a heck of alot of swelling around his testicle area quite frnkly you'll think tehre still there it will be swollowen so much in a few days it will go down. also he will walk funny for a few days this is normal and he will return to normal in a few days. THe vet always says the dog wont eat or drink apon return but all three of mine did with no vomiting either. With a male the dsurgery is so much simpler and it heals much quicker but do not let him jump into or outof ccars/suvs or trucks or jump off decks/stairs/beds/couches this can tear the stiches away...help him off so he gets off slow and doesnt hurt himself within a week he should be wlaking normal adn bakc to his old self avoid bathing hims for 2 or 3 weeks after the surgery thou....I honestly waited alot longer. Thats about it oh and he cant control his bosy temp real well so make she he has warm bedding or the heat is left on higher in a colder room so he doesnt get too cold cover him when hes sleeping if its very cold(ie basement or aircondtioning)
