Question
I have been feeding my ladrador retriever-border collie mix purina beneful for quite some time, and recently my girlfriend was told that the food goes mostly undigested and doesnt possess anything healthy for my dog because it is mostly corn based, however my dog isn't underweight actually quite healthy. Should I switch his food because of what she heard? I guess i am trying to get a second opinion. also I just got a lab puppy what would be the best type of food to give her?

Answer
Hello Greg and thank you for your questions,

Conrats on the new puppy firstly,

Its true what she heard... the cheaper foods do nnot get used in the body s much and in turn the dog poops more and eats more. The ezxpensive foods like nutro, nutreance/technical and pro plan require teh dog to eat less because its absorbed into the body better and in turn the dog doesnt poop as much either. Its your choice dogs fair well on cheaper and expensive foods its up to what the owner can afford and can readily find in there area. The puppy should be on a large breed puppy food for less expensive foods purina puppy chow makes a large breed puppy purina one does also, then tehre is nuetreance/technical/nutro in large bred puppy as well.
