Question
Hi we have a one year old labradour that is overweight. She weighs 30.3Kg at only one years of age. We have had her on a diet for quite a while now she has lost a slight bit of weight, but now the weight has come to a stand still. Could you maybe give us a reason why she wont losse weight? She is on a very small diet and she gets walked and gets run about with her doggie friends twice a day for at least an hour each time, also my we take her to the beach once a week for a long walk along with our Yorkshire Terrier. But we are very concerned about her weight. What is your advice for us?
Thank you for your time, Matthew

Answer
If she isn't losing weight you must either increase her exercise or decrease her food.  Don't pay too much attention to what is on the dog chow package or other guidelines.  They are only starting points.  You need to adjust what you are feeding to the dogs condition.

One other point is other possible sources of food, sometimes kindly, but misguided neighbors, give a dog food, or they steal things.  She might even be catching little furry snacks herself.
