Lab with a limp

Question
Hi,

Whilst out walking my 10 month lab last week he was playing with another dog that we see on a regular basis. They get their exercise and have fun at the same time wearing each other out.

However since last week Rolo has been dipping when walking and is holding his front left leg as to not put any pressure on it. He doesnt seem to be in any pain as he will still let me touch it and doesnt cry if lightly squeezed.

Just after a bit of advice on a) how to get a bouncy lab to rest his sore leg :) b) am i best to take him for short walks until better so he doesnt end up bouncing around the house bored or keep him in until better.

Obviously if the problem persists i will take him to the vet but reluctant to at the min for them to charge me for the privelage of saying he has a sprain.

Thanks for your help in advance :)

Answer
I really think if he isn't better by the first of the week, it will be time to see the vet.  In the meantime, gentle walks will help.  Go in a public place where people may stop to pet him.  I often stand around a booth all day with people petting my dogs.  They are exhausted at the end of the day without much exercise.  Even sitting on a park bench might work.
