eating sticks on a regular basis

My golden retriever age 3 eats sticks and swallows them.I worry about it and don't know if its good or bad.I would appreciate your input.Thank you Kathy

It can't be good, but if you have a nice, shady back yard, it is hard to stop.  The sort of old, dead sticks that fall off trees, aren't near as dangerous as scraps of lumber.  The lumber splinters, while sticks usually crumble.  I would be very careful to keep any lumber scraps picked up.  Do what you can on the sticks too.  My friend's one puppy threw up when he ate sticks.  

If you see blood in the stool, or digestive upsets. call the vet.
