Question
How much food should I be feeding my lab puppy? He is about 6 months old. I've been feeding him two cups a day, but he seems to be starving all the time. I want to feed him more, but my husband won't let me. I feel bad.

Answer
If you can see his ribs, he needs more.  Otherwise, no. If he is still on puppy chow, Iwould switch to the adult version of the same food  An early witch to an adult chow for the larger breeds slows growth and helps develop sturdier joints.

Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest. You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them. Each dog is different. Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog must have its food and exercise adjusted to its individual needs.
