Chocolate Lab color as a puppy

Are chocolate labs brown color at birth or black and if black when do they change color to chocolate?

Answer
Labs mostly stay the color they are born.  They come in a wide range of colors. Some of the chocolates are so dark you have to look closely to see they aren't black.  Other are lighter.  I am not sure where you divide light chocolates and dark yellows.  

Shepherds are all born a dull, sooty black, developing their other colors before long.
