Crating a pup while I go to work..

Question
Is this bad? To crate the 8 wk old pup for 8 hrs while I go to work?
We dont crate our 5mo old. She is housebroke and stays in the kitchen with her bed, toys and water.
What do you suggest?

Answer
An 8 week old is never going to make it that long in a crate.  If you can't make it back, can you find a neighbor or a professional dog walker to give it a break?  If not, perhaps you should consider adopting an older dog.  There are tons of them around,  Check your local shelter www.petfinders.org

One of the best sources for dogs with a predictable personality is the rescue
dogs.  These are dogs that lost their home, but were taken into a foster home
to be retrained as necessary and placed in the right home for them.  You may
find a rescue near you starting at
http://www.akc.org/breeds/rescue.cfm  The rescues charge a fee to help cover their expenses, but is much less than the price of a puppy plus all its medical expenses the first year.
