Question
Have 14month old husky, she loves to run (obviously) she is now pulling me (10stone) along on a scooter no problem at the moment i have a set route (built up area into countryside) my concern is as she is still developing bone wise how far do i let her push herself,as she will go mad for a run, and i am worried about bone development in the future

Answer
As a general rule, Sibes are very healthy and hearty dogs, and whatever they feel like doing they are often ok to do.  I don't recommend letting the dog pull until a year old, but after that, just work weight and distance up slowly.  As with any athlete, keep an eye for injuries (limping, soreness, cuts on the pads of the paws, etc.) and be careful in warmer weather providing shade, a lot of water, and frequent breaks as your dog is wearing a thick fur coat.  Otherwise, my only other advice is run the dog as far as you and her want, as long as when you are done, she still wants to run a bit more.  Going further, and getting the dog to the point of being tired or exhausted, can cause injuries or problems.  So, if you are running a few kilometers, and she starts to drag some, make sure to back it down.  You want her to be tired at the end, but still running, and still wanting to run when you finish up.  This should keep her happy, healthy, and eager for the next time you get to run the course.
