Jumping Great Dane

Question
I have a handsome great Dane and a tiny Bichapoo.  They make a lovely couple.  For the most part they are good dogs.  They play ok together and they are affectionate.  The problem with having a small dog and a large dog is that they are so jealous of eachother and when the small dog does something the big one thinks he can do it too.  It is very frustrating because I am constantly yelling no and it has no effect.  The biggest problem with our relationship is that Boston is jumping on people.  It normally happens when he is exited and running around like when I first come home or we go outside to play fetch.  Just this weekend he jumped on a younger boy that was visiting the house to ride the horse.  It was very scarey because we saw it coming and we were calling Boston and yelling no and he had no response.  I truly believe he thinks he is a small dog.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Yep. Number one stop yelling at your dog. He just hears you barking loudly and nothing more.
2. Type alpha dog boot camp into your webbrowser and learn to establish and maintain pack order in your home, asap
3. Get your dog into an obedience class. again this is an asap
4. Do not allow your dog to greet people off lead until he learns to sit for petting/. DO NOT pet him or give him any affection until he sits. Every time. Make sure everyone who comes to your house is aware of this and follows the rules. You can teach him by having a friend maybe the little guy he jumped on , over to practice. Put him on lead, have the child approach him, put him on sit.If he tries to stand up, using your cupped hand with your fingers outstretched stiffly give him a nice poke in the collar area, combined with a sharp loud CHH sound as in the beginning of the word chair, followed by the sit command. The second he sits, praise him. You might have to do this several times a day until he 'gets' it. Danes are smart, but a bit on the stubborn side and Boston still sounds very young. He doesn't believe he is a small dog. He believes he is a big dog who has been allowed to do things that he shouldn't and he now sees no reason for NOT doing them. Give up on the word no. At this point it has no impact. Any correction should be done as I explained above.
When he's excited when you first come home,. REMEMBER he MUST sit before anything else. Before you pet him, before you play fetch with him, before he EATS before he goes outside to potty. Period.  You can also use your hand palm facing his face, held up right fingers toward the sky, with a strong SIT when he tries to get up. And also remember IMMEDIATE praise when he does the GOOD stuff,
Hope you find this helpful
