Answer
Do you know anything about the genetics and background of your dog and theirs?  You do not want to pass genetic defects along.  Even with 1 litter and then spaying, you can get some undesirable traits.  It also depends on the size of your female.  Is she big enough to have pups and is she old enough or too old?  These are things you want to consider.  I know your heart is in the right place, but also remember we have an overpopulation of dogs because so many want just a litter.  Puppies are expensive to raise so you will not likely get your money back if you sell or make very little - shots, worming, maternal care, vet checkups, etc. and that is if they are healthy.  If your dog has never had a litter, it is possible she cannot get pregnant and/or that she will be unable to take care of the pups - I have seen both happen - although not often.  Just letting you know that you are getting into a lot before you breed.  Been there with pregnant fosters.  Pups cannot go until 8 weeks of age - it is a law - and 12 weeks is sometimes better - depending on the mom and babies.  Anyway, to answer - a mixed coat is not a desirable dachshund trait but for pets there is nothing wrong with it.  It makes them have a thicker and sometimes soft coat.  You will not know if they will have thick coats or medium long coats, but most likely you will not get the recognized smooths.  Coloring is not an issue with these colors - some pups can be red, some might be black and tan - it all depends on genes.  Also, a true mini is 10 lbs or less.   Most dachshunds fall into the tweenie category - over 10 lbs but not the size of a standard.  The more you know about dachshunds, the better prepared you will be.  With that info, it is up to you.  I personally would not consider breeding because I work in rescue and see so many unwanted dachshunds of all colors, sizes, coats, and ages.  And it is healthier for the dog to be altered and I want my doxies to live as long as possible!  So as to whether you should wait or not, it is not a question I cannot answer, since it is a personal choice but pick the right dog, not just a convenient dog.  Hope this helps and good luck!
