Question
Hello! I have two nearly 7 month old dachshund litter mates. They are very happy active little pups. However there is a significant size difference. I was wondering if dachshund litters can have multiple sizes? My female is over 11 lbs but my male is just barely 6 lbs. Can two standard dachshunds breed a miniature one, or is he just a runt?

Thanks, Mj

Answer
You can get different sizes.  We have a tweenie and a standard from the same rescue litter.  Sounds like you have a tweenie and a mini.  Runts happen so that is possible.  Have him checked at the vet to be sure he is healthy and there are no issues stunting his growth and then have no worries!
