Question

Boomer's Bruise
Hi! I recently had my 1 year old miniature dapple doxie at the vet. He weighs about 9.5 pounds and is just a big lover! The morning after I picked him up at the vet, I noticed a GOLF BALL size bruise on his neck. The entire front of his neck is black and blue. He has never bruised before, and this has me very worried about this new vet. When I called to ask about the bruise she said he was "very uncooperative" during his bloodwork which caused the bruise. I dont understand how such a small needle could leave such a huge bruise on him. To me, it looks like someone was holding him down or choking him. Could there be another reason?

Answer
It had to be a rough blood work to cause that much bruising.  It does sound like he was not handled properly.  I would get another vet asap.  My vet would not cause this much bruising even if the dog was uncooperative.  Poor baby - at least it will go away.
