QuestionI have a 15 yr old female dachshund who has started showing small amounts of blood in her urine. She doesn't appear to be in any extreme pain nor is she squatting frequently to try to urinate. I know that cranberry juice is ok for humans to consume for kidney problems, can a small diluted amount be given to my dachshund?
AnswerI have heard cranberry juice is okay but you have to watch the amount of sugar you are giving her. Cranberry pills might be better BUT at her age, it could be something other than a kidney infection or UTI. I would take a urine sample to the vet for testing before trying any solutions, you might be treating the wrong ailment.
