Question
I have three doxies 2 male a one female. In January we took in the second male. Also at this time we had a mix breed dog recently the older mixed died and three days ago the two males have started fighting and they are very serious they have broke skin on me and my husband trying to get them apart. We separate them into different boxes but the minute you let them out they go at each other again. Even thou they have not hurt each other it is only a matter of time. I am calling the vet about getting the new one fixed.

Answer
Getting him fixed might help, but if there is a pattern established it may not stop completely.  I have this problem but no injuries or people getting hurt.  You need to keep them separate until the one is fixed and the testosterone is out of his system for sure.  Never leave them together alone - you will never know what will happen.  When you say boxes I am assuming crates?  Make sure they have bones to chew on the crates and it would help if they can see each other but not get at each other - do not put the crates too close together.  You may have to take things a step at a time and try to figure out why they are fighting - is it for dominance, your attention, etc.  Try having them out and each of you keep one on a leash and do not let them get into a fighting position.  If they cannot touch each other and then gradually you can let them touch noses, etc.  This may help them settle down but be sure they get treats for being good, praise, and teach them both to sit.  Trade dogs too so they do not pick owners and sides.  It will take quite awhile.  You also might want to consider taking them to obedience class together and getting a pet behaviorist in.  Best of luck!
