Dapple Dachshund
There are so many types of Dachshunds I am going crazy trying to figure out the different dapples, piebalds, etc. I would love to have a dachshund exactly like the one in this photo, maybe even one with more white, and a blue eye. What would I tell a breeder I'm looking for here, a double dapple or triple dapple longhair?
AnswerIt looks like a dapple to me. NO responsible breeder breeds double dapples - they have too many genetic issues, are born blind or deaf or both and in some cases will develop this later in life. We have a DD in rescue that will go completely blind when he gets a little older. Pies usually have more white. Remember that these are not originally colors of the breed and they come with issues many times. There is no such thing as a triple dapple. Hope that helps.
