QuestionI rescued a longhaired dapple mini dachshund on Oct 4 2011. She is three years old very sweet but a bit scared. She was in heat when I brought her home. Brought her to the vet on Oct 10. Everything was OK. She had been used as a breeder. At the time I brought her home she was so very thin her hair was matted and she smelled horrible. I wanted to give her some time to feel comfortable in our home. We planned to have her fixed after Christmas. On December 8 64 days after we brought her home I found her in her crate with a newborn puppy, she then delivered two more with some assist. I feel so bad that I didn't know that she was pregnant. I bathem her and brush her beautiful hair. I'm in shock and not quite sure what to do next.
AnswerJust make sure she is able to take care of them - she may still be malnourished and not able to feed them properly or not have the nutrients they need.
