Question
i have a male and my brother in law has a female we want to breed them with each other but before we do we want to know what is the average puppy litter for mini's?

Answer
This is a difficult question to ask someone who has seen hundreds of unwanted dachshunds.  I am truly not at all for breeding because someone feels like it.  There is so much more to it than putting a male and female together.  Also, there are very few true minis out there so if you really do have one, you should consider if she should be bred due to her small size.  Proper breeding involves DNA testing to check background and gene carrying, understand coat colors and what to breed and not to breed, understanding how expensive it is if you do it for the benefit and health of the mother and the puppies, etc.  Your male and his female will be healthier and much better pets if they are altered.  This is particularly true as they age.  Don't get me wrong - I love puppies and we have an adorable one in rescue right now.  Just make sure you ask yourself why you are breeding and do you want your pet to be a stud?  Is it for the betterment of the breed (breed standard dogs) or because your brother in law feels like it and just wants to have some puppies?  Anyway, sorry about the soap box - it depends on the size of your dogs - again, true minis are not that common so a mini will likely have 2 or 3 pups.  But it does varies and usually 3 - 4 is pretty common.  Make sure the delivery is attended in case there are complications!  Best wishes!
