Question
QUESTION: my english bulldog has no control of her urine or bowel she walks and goes and doesn't even know she is doing it. her bowels r loose. this has been going on since she has been born.

ANSWER: Hi AnnMarie, Poor little girl.  I am wondering if there is something wrong with her spine and muscles.

You need to have her checked out medically.  Just to rule out any abnormal discoders that she could have been born with.

Take your dog to the vet. If the dog is suffering incontinence for an extended period of time, then you should take your pet to the vet. She can assist you in determining the cause of the canine incontinence.  Make sure the vet understands it is poop and pee.

Wish I could be of more help to you...

You may want to try a probiotic in her food each day .  Here is a link for probiotics.  ( helps the belly and intestines) Look for something like this in the local pet store:

Good Luck - I hope the vet can help you two...

Answer
Hi again: Please do NOT breed her ...NO pups for this little girl.  This is a genetic disorder that she can pass on to the pups.  Sorry... That's the nicest way I can say this....

Yes, this is a disorder that has hit many an English Bull dog.
Here is a link with info about what problems are hitting this breed.  It is a very helpful booklet from the Seattle Bull Dog Club.

I am sorry.  You can try pumpkin in her diet. If you give her 1/4 cup of pumpkin ( pure pumpkin / no sugar added) CANNED... This should help to firm up her STOOLS.  Then they won't be so loose.

She doesn't have feeling in the the lower areas of her spine and that is why she doesn't know when the bladder is releasing ... Also, when she needs to release stool, it just comes out.  She can't control it and I believe she never will.

Again, Wish I could be more positive on this.
