Dog throwing up clear vomit with white foam!

My dog has been throwing up white vomit since this morning. He has thrown up at least two times.
I let him inside and he threw up on the wood floor. I got a good look at it: It was a white, foamy substance surrounded by a clear substance. It had a consistency like an egg when I cleaned it up. The white and clear substances where in roughly equal parts and stayed together, leaving little residue on the floor when I wiped it up. It looked like a huge cracked egg except the 'yolk' was white and foamy.
My dog is approximately 8 years old. He is a unknown mix of breeds. He is medium sized, wheighing about 30-40 points. He has not had any other occurence of this before as I remember. He is perfectly normall other than throwing up every once in a while. Should I take him to the vet?

Hi George:  We can try a few things.  If he isn't better in 24 hrs, please call your local vet.  OK?

First, let's get some chicken ( white) and some rice ( white) into him.  You can cook this up for him.  Make about 2 days worth of this mixture.  Give him 1/2 cup of white chicken with 1/2 cup of white rice.  Feed him very lightly the next 24 to 48 hours.  No treats, just this mixture.  Also, make sure there is fresh water around for him.

Buy some Pepto Bismol - you can get this any place / get the pill form/ caplets - easy to hide in a small piece of cheese.
Here is the dosage for this :
( the dosage below is based on the liquid form of the drug)

PEPTO-BISMOL: Can be administered to dogs with stomach problems. Give one teaspoon per twenty pounds of weight every four to six hours. Again, Pepto Bismol should never be given to cats.
