pitbull in heat

i have a female pitbull dont know her age but by the way she acts and how white her teeth are i am guessing she about a year. she is in heat but has been bleeding for 23 days know the swelling has gone down but she is bleeding alot why so long and when will this stop so i can go get her fixed thanks .....

Usually three weeks is about the longest we expect to see vaginal bleeding from a heat cycle. It may be worth while to have her clotting values checked before she has her spay. I would expect her bleeding to stop any day now. I like to wait a good 4-6 weeks after the heat cycle before spaying a dog.
