Question
I have a pit bull who is 9 months old.He started to get a rash (a red prickly heat sort of thing) first on his chest, then his genitals now it is around his mouth as well. I was feeding him kibbles N' bits and switched him to pedigree. It worked great for about 2 weeks and now nothing. His rash spots on his chest are getting dry and almost "scabby".He seems to "itch".I have given him oatmeal baths and it calms down a bit but it looks horriable...what can I do for him? Hes such a little love and I feel horriable for him.

Hi Jodi - Pitbull kids are so prone to skin and coat troubles - I be this is food and environmental related - yes, I would be glad to help you two...

1.  Give him a baking soda bath today and every 3 days for 1 weeks-
Fill the tub 1/2 full with warm water and then add 1/4 cup of pure baking soda...Drop cups of this mixture over him.. Rinse off after 5 minutes ...

2. Please call now and order this Holistic and natural Canine supplement - you will give him 2 wafers per day for 30 days and then drop down to 1 1/2 NuVET wafers per day... long term ( or during the spring and summer season/ allergy season)
1-800-474-7044  ( tell them Pet Nurse Marie sent you for the NuVET Plus wafers)
http://www.nuvet.com/81098

3.  Also, - please order the Tea tree oil Hot spot shampoo from the NuVET folks and use this 2-3 x per Month... Excellent and only 9.95 for an 8 oz bottle - all you need is a little bit at each bath.

4.  I would like to see you slowly work over to a grain-free food:
mix your food ( the one you are using now ) with some WELLNESS Core or Merrick BEFORE Grain , or even Innova EVO-
Do a 50 : 50 mix of the OLD food and the NEW grain free food x 1 month... then switch to 100% the new grain free Food.

Keep me posted - I would love to work with you two.

YOU know many Vets will refer you to 25 mg of Benadryl every 8 hrs if the rash or itching is very bad.

The NuVET will be in by Friday if you call them Now
